About Aware
Aware is a product safety intelligence app that lets you scan any product barcode and instantly understand every ingredient inside it. We cross-reference 10+ global databases to flag allergens, harmful additives, international bans, and safety concerns, then tailor the results to your personal health profile.
Aware supports six product categories:
  • Food & Beverages
  • Skincare & Beauty
  • Household Cleaning Products
  • Supplements & Vitamins
  • Baby Products
  • Pet Food & Treats
If a product has a barcode and is in our database of 3M+ products, you can scan it.
Aware is currently in development and accepting early access sign-ups. Join the waitlist to be among the first to try it when we launch. We'll notify you as soon as access opens.
Early access is completely free. We plan to offer a free tier with core scanning features and a premium plan with advanced personalization, unlimited history, and priority recall alerts. Pricing will be announced at launch.
How It Works
Our analysis is built on cross-referencing 10+ authoritative scientific and regulatory databases including Open Food Facts, FDA GRAS, EFSA, WHO, PubChem, and USDA FoodData. We update our database in real time as new safety research and regulatory guidance emerges. That said, data is only as current as what has been published — we always recommend reading product labels directly for the most up-to-date information.
Each ingredient receives one of three verdicts:
  • Clear — No known health concerns at typical consumption levels.
  • Caution — Some research suggests potential concerns; moderate attention recommended.
  • Flagged — Linked to health risks, banned in certain jurisdictions, or a known allergen for your profile.
Verdicts are also filtered through your personal health profile. What's "Clear" for most people may be "Flagged" for you based on your conditions or allergens.
If we can't find a product by barcode, you'll have the option to manually enter its ingredients. Our ingredient engine can analyze any list of ingredients — even if the specific product isn't in our library yet. We also accept community submissions to help grow our database.
Our AI engine reads the structured data from our ingredient databases and translates it into plain-language explanations tailored to your health profile. It doesn't make up information — it synthesizes what our databases say and explains it in a way anyone can understand. Think of it as having a knowledgeable friend who can read the label and explain what it means for you personally.
Health Profile & Personalization
Aware supports 25+ allergen types and a wide range of health conditions including (but not limited to) diabetes, PCOS, thyroid conditions, celiac disease, IBS, and cardiovascular concerns. You can also set dietary preferences like gluten-free, vegan, keto, anti-inflammatory, and more. If your specific condition isn't listed, you can add custom ingredients to avoid.
Absolutely. Your health profile is encrypted and never shared with or sold to third parties. It is used exclusively to personalize your ingredient verdicts within the app. You can delete your health profile or your entire account at any time. Read our full Privacy Policy for details.
Yes. You can scan and receive general ingredient verdicts without a health profile. Setting one up unlocks personalized verdicts, custom allergen alerts, and tailored guidance — but it's entirely optional.
Safety & Medical Advice
No. Aware is an informational tool designed to help you make more educated choices. It does not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional (your doctor, allergist, or registered dietitian) before making decisions based on ingredient information, especially if you have a serious health condition or known allergy.
AwareNews is a live feed of official government safety alerts and product recalls from the FDA, USDA, and CPSC. Alerts are presented as-issued by the respective agencies — no editorializing, just the facts. You can filter by risk level and opt in to push notifications for categories you care about.
