- Scan history: Barcodes you scan and products you search for, to improve accuracy and offer scan history features.
- Device information: Device type, operating system, and app version for troubleshooting and performance monitoring.
- Usage data: How you interact with features in the app, collected in aggregate to improve the product.
- Waitlist submissions: Email address provided on our landing page for early access notification.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Aware app and its features.
- Personalize your ingredient verdicts based on your health profile.
- Send you product safety alerts, recalls, and updates (where you've opted in).
- Respond to your questions and provide customer support.
- Analyze usage trends to improve the product experience.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
We do not use your health profile data for advertising purposes. We do not sell your data to third parties.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We may share your data in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers: Trusted third-party vendors who help us operate Aware (e.g., cloud hosting, email delivery, analytics). They are bound by confidentiality agreements and may only use your data to provide services to us.

Your data is stored on servers located in the United States. We use industry-standard encryption (TLS in transit, AES-256 at rest) to protect your information. Your health profile is encrypted and isolated from identifiable account data where technically feasible.
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We take reasonable measures to protect your data but cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data.
- Portability: Request your data in a portable format.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you via email or in-app notification. Continued use of Aware after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
